National Debt Will Hit $20 Trillion on May 17th, 2015

It’s just my guestimate, but I am going to start a countdown timer to that date. Even if taxes were raised $1.6 Trillion (this is what President Obama wants now, but it is double what he mentioned during the campaign), he will still raise spending and outpace any increased monetary confiscation (raised taxes) the Democrats employ.

President Obama talks about conservatives holding the country hostage over tax increases for the “wealthy,” but he is holding the country hostage by not delineating spending cuts.  Therefore, we will hit the $20 Trillion National Debt mark in 2 1/2 years.

Robertson & Glover should Read Proverbs 17:28

I was not amazed at all when Pat Robertson said: “”They said, we will serve you if you will get us free from the French. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it’s a deal.  Ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other.  History, combined with the horrible state of the country, has led countless scholars and religious figures over the centuries to believe the country is cursed.”

Robertson has a track record that should make every Christian (at least those who believe Jesus actually visited the women at the well in John 4) cringe and distance themselves from him and/or his comments.  Most of the time I wish the 700 program would go off the air.

Again, I was not surprised when Danny Glover said, “When we see what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I’m sayin?”  So according to Glover, if the politicians had done more to control the climate, this Haitian tragedy would not have occurred.   Yet another intelligent comment from the Hollywood ‘elite.’

Notice though that both should remain quiet and have not, which should make the media comment on both, which they have not.  The media seems to only push the Robertson comments and not the Glover comments.

Telegraphs ARE NOT Telephones

In a current case before a federal court, partners Paul Katami and Jeffrey Zarrillo are claiming domestic partnerships in California are not equivalent to marriages.  Zarrillo asserts, “domestic partnership would relegate me to second-class citizenship, maybe third-class — and that’s not enough.”  One of their lawyers, Theodore Olsen, claims California “has put people into categories.”  This is really funny considering how often government forms asks for the race of the person filing it and he is not complaining about those.

When Thomas Edison filed a patent for the telephone in 1876, he did not call it the telegraph.  Although both sent sounds over a distance, Edison did not even call his invention the talking telegraph.  Why did did he not call the telephone a telegraph?  Because they were not the same thing.

Since the United States Supreme Court has  defined marriage as a union between a man and a woman (Jones v. Hallahan (1973), then anything we as a society call marriage should be a union between a man and a women.   A union between a man and a women is not the same as a union between two people of the same sex.  Since these unions are not the same thing, then these unions should be labeled differently as well.

Is simply calling two different unions by two different terms equivalent to putting people in different categories?  It is indeed putting people in different categories, but all of us are in different categories.  Some are in the category of being women, some are in the category of being men.  Should they all be in the same category?  No, many scientific studies have shown that men a women are indeed different.

This leaves one question:  Is categorizing different people differently wrong?  Last time I checked, I was not answering my cellular telegraph.

Change has to be positive to be good

Change.  This is arguably the word which catapulted President Obama into office.  There is no doubt that things have changed, but this does not mean we are better for it.

For instance, his change of heart regarding discussions on health care. On January 31, 2008, then Senator Obama promised in a debate with Senator Clinton, “That’s what I will do in bringing all parties together, not negotiating behind closed doors, but bringing all parties together, and broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN so that the American people can see what the choices are.”

The President has changed his mind.  These negotiations will not be held in the open, but behind the closed doors of Democratic conferences.

Another change is that the President said he would unite the parties and and bring in a new level of bi-partisanship; however, he and the Democratically held congress want less work together and more power for themselves.

Change is only good if it is positive.  The change from this administration has been anything but that.

ACLU doesn’t have a clu

FoxNews.com has quoted an ACLU statement criticizing the United States airplane passenger security policy as reading: “Using national origin or religion as proxies for suspicion is nothing less than racial profiling.”  The problem is, neither national origin nor religion have anything to do with race.

A person can be a white Muslim from Japan or a persian Buddhist from America or a black Christian from Germany.  The three are not related at all.  Race is genetic, religion is application of truth, and nationality is happenstance of birthplace.

Granted the ACLU often wants everyone to have anarchist type liberty no matter what they have done in the past (I am surprised they have not spoken out against all metal detectors and screening devices), but this case (as in many before) they are preaching freedom from a podium of ignorance.

Get Insurance or Pay Tax

As part of the new health care bill approved by the House on Saturday night, on provision reads:

H.R. 3962 provides that an individual (or a husband and wife in the case of a joint return) who does not, at any time during the taxable year, maintain acceptable health insurance coverage for himself or herself and each of his or her qualifying children is subject to an additional tax.” [page 1]

As an American, I am insulted.  If I do not want to by health insurance, the government should not make me buy it.  This is another example of the fascist socialism of the Obama Administration.

What is next?  Exercise 30 minutes every day or face fines (each citizen will be fitted with a pedometer)?  Eat a vegan diet or face increased health care premiums?  Only drive 100 miles per week or pay 3 times the listed rat for gasoline?  All these could come when the government believes it can tax inaction on your part.

My Goal in Life

America is a bad country and we have made a lot of bad choices.  The United States pollutes the air.  We have too many weapons.  We interfere too much.  As Americans, we should be ashamed of ourselves.  I want the world community to tell us what to do.  I want to bring down The United States of America, so that the world community will be lifted up.  We are simply a nation of people with whom others are rightly upset. I want this to change.

I believe we can live in a world where Hamas and Israelis hold hands in the streets; where al-Quaeda are our neighbors; and where Iran are our bridge partners.  I believe in the hope of this kind of world.

My goal in life is to win the Nobel Peace Prize.  How am I doing?

One major difference between socialism and capitalism is the financial role of government in the private sector. President Obama said in a press conference on science today, “I believe it is not in our character, American character, to follow — but to lead. And it is time for us to lead once again. I am here today to set this goal: we will devote more than 3 percent of our GDP to research and development.” But has it been the government who has lead in technology?  Getty, Goddard, Ford, Jobs, Gates, and many others made incredible advances without being on the government payroll.
This is the American character. Pulling ourselves up by our own bootstraps and being reliant on the ingenuity of our citizens and not our government is what has made America great. If we are to continue to be great, the government needs to get out of the way, not stand in the middle of it. If President Obama wnats to stimulate scientific research, he should cut taxes on private companies who do scientific research and allow the market to drive new technology, not raise taxes so that he can finance his projects.

Save $1.67 – that’s an order

President Obama has “ordered” his cabinet members to save a total of $100 million.  With a budget proposal for 2010 of $3.6 trillion, that would be equivelent to my family saving $1.67 this year.  That is tough budgeting!  I think I will skip buying a couple of cans of Moutain Dew this week so that I will match the percentage savings of the entire presidential cabinet.  If the government can make tough choices, I can too.

Miss USA Pageant Anti-Tolerant

I hear the prefix ‘anti’ all the time when it comes to conservatives.  They are anti-abortion, anti-homosexual, anti-socialist, and lately anti-government to name a few.  This tactic makes those who hold to a set of values appear as villainous hate mongers.  I think the tables should be turned and the liberals should be seen as the generators of fear, hate, and division they really are.  It is time liberals take the term anti-tolerant to be their own.

Tolerance is the acceptance of people despite their views.  Anti-tolerance, therefore, is not accepting the worthiness of a person because they do not agree with a given viewpoint.  Conservatives are often attacked for being ‘intolerant’ of people, but the continual stream of anti-tolerant rhetoric and behavior from the political left is currently the most divisive component of American culture.

At the Miss USA pageant on Sunday, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, was asked if more states should legalize homosexual marriages as Vermont just did.  Her answer: “I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman,” she said on the live broadcast. “No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”  The judge asking the question was famous homosexual Perez Hilton.  On his blog he recorded and anti-tolerant message veiled as an attack on her intellect.  Keith Lewis, a co-director of the Miss California pageant said, “I am personally … hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman.”  Miss Prejean takes a moral stand, and liberals make anti-tolerant attacks because she does not agree with their views.

Should Miss Prejean have won instead of being 1st runner-up?  Don’t ask me, I don’t think these pageants are very healthy for society.  However, this type anti-tolerant behavior is worse.  In our country, agree or disagree, we should fight for the right of individuals to freely and truthfully speak their mind (inside of not causing riots and the like).  The political left, though, does not think this way.  They are anti-tolerant.
